One of the first things I learned about being married was to be aware of my imaginary conversations arguments with my husband. Isn’t it much safer to have these arguments silently with yourself? You always have the perfect comeback and win in the end, right? Or perhaps you take these frustrations and share it with your girlfriends? Now your girlfriends know more about your personal frustrations than your husband does. Why tell him? He won’t listen to reason and probably won’t change. But is he the one who needs to change?
In order for someone to receive complaints/frustrations, they would need to have a super human personality with no pride or defensiveness. Do you know someone like that? I’m guilty of both pride and being a defensive person. I come from a background of being a fixer and very certain of how things should be done. But what if there was no finger pointing but realizing we need to look at our own stuff? Watch the following clip taken from the ‘Staying in Love’ Message by Andy Stanley.

“What happens after ‘I do’? How can the person to whom a woman gave her deepest vow to become the person she despises most? How can the beautiful woman, a man couldn’t stay away from, become the person he can’t stand to be around? In Part 3, Andy Stanley dispels a common myth about why we fall out of love and exposes the true problem.” – by Northpoint Community Church
