Friday Feature – Nova & Mark Kopp
It was at a dinner party where I met Nova. She is not only beautiful on the outside but equally beautiful on the inside. Nova is a life coach and works with people to share her message that is never too late to become the person of their dreams. Nova believes in always delivering your best self and is passionate about helping people improve their personal situation, whether it it be career, relationships, health, financial or spiritual growth.
Last year I asked Nova to speak to 7 girls I was mentoring. Nova was enthusiastic and shared her journey. The neatest part of her story is when she won the Mrs. Georgia crown at the age of 50! In 2015, Nova was crowned Mrs. Georgia, United States. In 2016, she was crowned Ms. Georgia and won Mrs. International 2016/2017. Her tagline…transformation is possible at any age. Enjoy getting to know her and Mark below!
How did you meet your husband?
I met my husband over 27 years ago at T-birds in Jacksonville Florida. I did not think he wanted to get married so we ended up parting ways.
How did your husband propose?
My husband took me to Costa Rica for a vacation. He shut down the restaurant, decorated it with beautiful flowers, had a 5 course dinner. After dinner, during dessert, he asked me to marry him.
How long have you been married?
3 1/2 years
What are you both really excited about?
We both love teaching Sunday School… Anything to do with growing spiritually excites us.
What are your thoughts about counseling? Do you and your spouse go?
Yes, Mark and I went to premarital counseling prior to getting married. I think all couples need to do that prior to marriage.
Name a couple who inspires you?
Jimmy and Karen Evans… .We watch Marriage today with Jimmy and Karen Evans and they both inspire us.
Are you becoming the wife you hoped you’d be? Why or why not?
No, I am so busy with work, fulling my contract with Mrs. International 2017 that is hindering me from being a good wife. I am a great best friend but not so good wife.
In your perception, are there any rooms of his life that you believe are off limits to you?
No, We are very transparent and nothing is off limits.
How would you describe the word, “love?”
Love is a VERB, action oriented.
Do you see him growing more godly as the years go on? How are you measuring that?
Yes, he is hungry for God’s word. He is a Sunday school teacher and just asked me if I wanted to join a bible study with him.
Does it bother you that he’s growing older? If so, in what ways?
No, it concerns me that we married so late in life because we do not have much more time together.
If he were to be disabled mentally or physically in a severe way, do you think you can handle that? What would be the most difficult aspects?
I would hope and pray that I could handle that, I would have to be unemployed to care for him. My life is very busy and sometimes I am not nurturing.
Are you suffering internally in any way? What is it?
Yes, every once in a while I regret how I ended my marriage with my former husband. I did not realize the impact it was going to have on me in losing a lot of important relationships.
